April 2023<\/strong><\/p>

\u201cEsperanto Wor(l)ds\u201d will be on display at the Wardlaw Museum from 13 April to 29 May 2023. The exhibition showcases how Esperanto-speakers networked, communicated, and shaped a vibrant international language community.\u00a0<\/p>

December 2022<\/strong><\/p>

We have just released our CFP for the workshop entitled “Mapping multilingual (counter-)expertises: Scientific and political knowledge production process across borders in the long twentieth century”. The workshop will be held at St Andrews University, 23-24 August 2023. The deadline for proposals is 30 January 2023. For further details see the full CFP here<\/a>.<\/p>

November 2022<\/strong><\/p>

Dr Guilherme Fians has given a fascinating interview with insights into his anthropological field work on Esperanto in France revolving around his book ‘Esperanto Revolutionaries and Geeks: Language Politics, Digital Media and the Making of an International Community’ (Palgrave Macmillan 2021). We are pleased to announce a Call for Papers for the workshop series\u00a0\u201cTransnational Emancipatory Practices in the Face of the \u201cEsperanto\u00a0Paradigm\u201d Experiences in the Long Twentieth Century\u201d sponsored by the\u00a0Franco-German University. With this year\u2019s workshop theme \u201cPacifism in\u00a0Practice\u201d. The CfPs are in German and French.<\/a><\/p>

June 2021<\/b><\/p>

In June 2021 Bernhard Struck was awarded a major Leverhulme Research Project Grant<\/a>. The three-year project (2022-2025) is entitled \u201cSharing Knowledge in Esperanto: From Expert to Participatory Cultures, 1900\/2000\u201d. Together with Dr Guilherme Fians the project investigates the various roles and forms of knowledge production in and around Esperanto between the two periods c. 1900 and 2000.<\/p>
